Amy Finkelstein utilizes analog photographic processes to construct a sense of things that are unseen. Using large format film, darkroom, and Polaroid processes, she photographs mixed-media collages crafted in her studio for light to pass through. She also photographs out in the world with her 8x10 camera and Wet Plate processes. Amy was born and raised in SC and holds a Masters of Fine Arts from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, where she was a Deans Discretionary Award recipient. Her work has been exhibited extensively on the east coast and in art fairs, such as AIPAD in New York and Zona Maco Foto in Mexico City. She is the recipient of multiple prominent honors and awards such as the Aaron Siskind Individual Photographer’s Fellowship, a Montgomery County Artist and Scholars Grant, and a Trawick Award Finalist, among others. Finkelstein’s work is included in the collection of the Contemporary Museum of Casoria, Napoli, Italy. Her work has been featured by a variety of publications including Harpers Magazine, Wallpaper Magazine, Musee Magazine and Bmore Art. The artist currently works between New York, Baltimore and Takoma Park, MD where she lives with her three children.
