Clementine Williams
Brooklyn, NY
Clementine Williams is currently an undergraduate student studying visual art and biology at Bard college (Annandale-on-Hudson, NY). Her interest is in any space designed for acts of creation: blurring and expanding the relationship between artist and studio, or scientist and lab. Her work, typically in oil paint, but sometimes touching the photographic/video/digital realms, calls upon how transformation and transparency operate in and outside the body.
To her, creating is a process of play in which time, material, energy, and desire interact to birth artifacts of personal experience. Her paintings reflect the collage-like elements of thought, remembering, forgetting, coping, and feeling, often at the blurry intersection between digital permanence and human subjectivity.
