Michelle mandoki

Bard College, Mexico City

Michelle Mandoki is a junior in the Photography Program program at Bard College in Upstate New York, where she also forms part of the Experimental Humanities Media Corps team. She was born in California but lived and was raised in Mexico City ever since a young age. Michelle is interested in creating whimsical and often abstracted images that explore the possibilities of light as a tool to describe the smallest details. In creating work, Michelle attempts to be as open and sensitive to what she experiences and hopes to portray this sensitivity in her images. She is guided by questions such as- how can we find intimacy within our surroundings? In which ways can our surroundings guide us into discovering ourselves? And, in how do the lenses we use, both literally and figuratively, limit or allow us to approach and discover the world? Michelle is enthusiastic about learning new ways of creativity expression, and currently, some of her areas of interest include: film and digital photography, painting, drawing and digital programs such as Lightroom and Photoshop.
